Jefferson Hotel...More Jefferson,TX Ghosts
The Jefferson Hotel is over 150 years old and is thought to be home of several ghosts. These fun loving spirits are thought to be behind water faucets coming on, doors slamming,and playing with light switches.
Once, there were some ladies staying at the Jefferson Hotel who had gone on a local ghost tour. Not long after they had returned to the hotel, they were heard screaming about someone switching their luggage. The front-desk clerk suggested that maybe a friend had returned early and played a trick on them. Not so... according to these ladies...they claimed they were the first to return to their rooms. The front-desk clerk was use to the fun loving antics of the hotel's ghost by now. The clerk also recalled a time when a guest returned to her room only to find herself locked out...by the chain lock...which couldn't be explained since there was no one in the room.
The Jefferson Hotel is located in the historic Riverfront District. This building had been used as a warehouse to store cotton in earlier days. Then in the 1920's it was a hotel called the Crystal Palace. It was here that visitors could dance to ragtime music.
It is not known from which era the ghosts that inhabit the hotel are from but guest have seen a blond woman as well as a man wearing a long coat. The sad crying of a phantom child has also been heard.
